Visitors to our projects get the chance to feed the
elephants with fruit, vegetables and other nutrients at the park. Note
how the elephant uses the trunk to reach out and place the food in the
mouth. At the tip of the trunk is a "finger" which is as useful and
delicate as the touch of human.

Naturally they also are keen on people
hand feeding them. In this case you can see the large teeth of the
animal.
Naturally the only time an elephant uses the mouth to take food
directly is when it is taking it's mother's milk.
The bottom picture shows a hungry calf suckling his mother.
Special food and snacks suitable for the elephants is available for
visitors to feed themselves.
