Khamla reacts to the poor air quality in Northern Thailand
Khamla is upset, and many of our elephants have been off their usual gentle demeanor for the last few days. It is suspected that it has something to do with our very poor air quality for the past week here in Northern Thailand.
Fires have been burning in the mountains across the region, from Myanmar through Thailand and over to the east in Laos. The smoke or fine dust particles hang in the air and will remain there until we get rain or high winds.
Humans suffer with the smoke, the fine particles causing headaches, coughing, and making it difficult to breath. At least we can wear masks but the elephants cannot.
So, our elephants are showing their concerns and behaving in an alarmed way.
Here is a short video taken by Darrick showing Khamla showing her displeasure.
