The Incredible Senses of Elephants

While Mintra’s herd was bathing in the river, they suddenly became alert to something and began making loud vocalizations to each other. They got out of the river and huddled together, slapping their trunks against the ground. We were puzzled by what had spooked them at first, but within a minute or two, a helicopter flew over the area, and it became clear what all the fuss was about.

Elephants have an incredible sense of hearing and can feel subtle vibrations through the soles of their feet that are well beyond human range. It’s heartwarming to see how much the herd cares for each other.
