Lek Saengduean Chailert, the founder of Elephant Nature Park and Save Elephant Foundation visit and help many elephant camps in Thailand
On Wednesday 06th, May 2020 our founder – Lek Saengduean Chailert, visited and helped many elephant camps in Thailand. Please see her message below:
Today the team of Save Elephant Foundation came to visit the elephant camps in the eastern region, to bring the fund of 5000 Baht/elephant to help for elephant food, providing for 305 elephants in 22 elephant camps. I have had opportunity to speak with many camp owners, mahouts, and elephant owners. I have learned a lot of things and see how both elephants and people are desperate for help.
Also it is a good opportunity for me to meet with camp owners. I used this time to invite them to visit ENP. Most of them were interested and agreed to visit our project. While the COVID crisis has demanded social distancing and a certain isolation, it also has brought those once far apart now much closer together.
I have distinct hope for change and see a brighter future for the captive working elephant. Most elephant owners similarly worry about the situation and have grave concerns about the future of the tourist industry. Hopefully we can arrive at a common ground, paving the way for positive change.
I could not be here to help the elephant without all of your kind support and generous contributions. Thank you on behalf of all Thai elephants.
