Watch the journey of three elephants Duj Doa, Mai Tai, and Fah Rung during their rescue by Save Elephant Foundation to their forever home. Most Elephants have remained on a chain for so long now. That is one dire of COVID. Tourist industry-supported, they have been jobless for more than 1 year. All captive working elephants need a change from an intolerable situation and some need immediate rescue, three fortunate old dames have caught our attention.
Message from our founder, Lek Chailert:
We are on the way to Phuket to rescue one of the two Elephants from the Phuket Zoo. We will bring her home with mixed feelings, glad to get the female away but sad to leave the 6 year old boy behind at this time. We have funds enough to only rescue one elephant.
Kanjana has both hind legs injured when she was young. Born captive, her mother worked in a logging camp. After work, the mahout would let the mother and child out to walk in the jungle. The mother would drag a chain while her baby walked free. During a walk, the young Kanjana fell into a hole after a fire had just burned the forest. Hot coals were still in the hole. She tried to escape, and witnesses say that her mother tried to help. Not until people noticed was she able to get out
FahMui rescue story from our founder, Lek Chailert :
For every one of Save Elephant Foundation elephant rescues, we do not use a delivery service, so we personally ensure that our new elephant has a comfortable and safe journey by renting a truck and collecting the elephant.

Now She is roaming free and has made many new friends in her new forever home, no more, just the freedom to be an elephant.
