Elephant Of The Week : Mae Kham Sai rescued to ENP on June 2005
Kham Sai arrived ENP on June 2005, her name is mean “Clear Gold”. She was born around 1970. Lek met this poor lady elephant in 2004, her body covered by gentian violet, a purple antiseptic as an infection started at her feet and spread throughout her entire body. Lek offered her mahout some food and place to stay at ENP while they were waiting for the vet from hospital to heal Kham Sai. After Kham Sai recovered, her mahout took her back to work in a trekking.
Lek hope one day Kham Sai will be free and she never give up. One year later (June 2005) Kham Sai was rescued to ENP with one eye blind from a crop-raiding incident. Her new life began at her forever home, she is a very shy elephant and prefer to spend most of the time to stay alone. She is at her happiest when she spend time at the quiet place along the river.
