Sao Yai was born around 1990 and she was rescued to ENP on 2nd June 2011, so this is her rescue anniversary. She used to work in illegal logging and moved to trekking camp as an elephant show. This poor lady has had two babies and they were taken away. She was accepted by the herd upon her arrival. Sao Yai is intense,emotional and dramatic. She despises heavy machinery and can be unpredictable with other elephants, so she and her friends go to a quiet place away from the daily activities each day. Here, she is being welcomed by one of our divas, Mintra.
