Elephant Of The Week : Mae Bua Kham

Born around 1940, Mae Bua Kham (Mother Golden Lotus) was rescued from a trekking camp in February 2007. Before working in trekking she also worked in the legal and illegal logging industries. Upon arrival to ENP she was very thin and weak, but within a year she had regained her weight and strength. She is now one of the most healthy and robust older females at the park. Despite being old and worn out upon arrival, Mae Bua Kham has no injuries, no scars, perfect ears and sight in both eyes. She was solitary for a long time but is now a very important gran-nanny for Navann.
