What a remarkable transformation of a rescued male elephant named Gluay Hom who endured such hardship before, but now rests in the protective care of Elephant Nature Park !

Now he enjoys a peaceful life and has a relaxed company with others in adjacent sheltering. Gluay Hom loves his pool. He gives us work though 😂 ! He just finished wallowing in a mud pit, and after eating some field grass for awhile, decided to have a bath 😂 !

It is soon time to change the water 😂 What a beautiful Boy !

Today, he is happy as the young elephant should have been. He is growing up with our love and care. His body is so much healthier, his mind is strong with warm from the care & love we give to him. He has become a young elephant again.

Gluay Hom Recovering Well After Rescue Now at Elephant Nature Park

Look at this little boy, Gluay Hom. Five months ago his life was desparate, and much of his life before that. Many elephant lovers around the world prayed that his life could be spared such misery. See him today ! Gluay Hom has a new life. He holds no grudges, and is alive to the kindness that surrounds him. He embraces and squeezes goodness out of every waking moment.

Gluay Hom Update After 1 Month

We weighed Gluay Hom this evening. He gaining weight. He now weighs 1080 kilograms. His injuries are improving. His attitude is very positive. He is still under support of care for EEHV. Thanks to those who helping to support Gluay Hom.

It has been a month since Gluay Hom arrived at Elephant Nature Park

His leg is almost back to normal, but the joint is still stiff and he favors that leg. His hind quarters are still weak, and muscle atrophy clear due to lack of exercise for years. That will change with time. We will need take or a walk and bring him to the pool for his leg and body exercise. The swelling is significantly reduced. We’re so pleased with our medical team.

Update from Darrick on Gluay Hom

Gluay Hom is doing very well. TX continues for the swelling in his leg (pain and anti inflam meds). His leg is almost back to normal, but the joint is still stiff, and he favors that leg. I am quite pleased, and very happy with our medical team. Gluay Hom's energy levels are good. He eats well and his weight is up. The river has been high, so he hasn't made it over to our elephant scale for an accurate evaluation.

Welcome Home to our new Elephant Nature Park family member Gluay Hom

This little boy is quite fatigued. Rest and a nutritionally balanced food regimen will improve his energy levels. For now, he seems somewhat baffled by his new chain less condition. He will play with a chain that locks his gate, jangling it repeatedly. He enjoys his mud pit, and indeed, has been sleeping there rather than under the shelter on his sand pile. It is a time for adjustments to his new life status. He is on anti-inflammatory meds and pain modifiers for his injured leg. We will xray it next week. Superficial wounds have been treated. He is a good patient, and still a gentle young boy.
