FaaMai has long since learned that if she refuses to go back to the shelter at the end of the day, she gets to have new & exciting experiences with other elephants who have come to the river. In this video, we see Mho Jae, obsessed with food hogging whilst SookSai performs her dutiful role of nanny. SookSai caringly restrict access of FaaMai to her little ward, the beautiful boy Sa Ngae.
Chana’s family was quite excited to be going to the river again at the end of the day, and it was an experience even more enjoyable because FaaMai accompanied them as well. FaaMai brings a smile to everyone’s face.
FaaMai knows when her good friends, SaoYai and Mae Lanna, will be coming down the mountain on their way home, and she is so proud to meet up with them with her adoring little companion, MuayLek, as if to say, “Look what i found ! Isn’t she adorable ?!” .
Just the day after the traumatised young elephant arrived at Elephant Nature Park, MuayLek is being shown how to relax in the sanctuary of the park, meeting more of the herd, visiting the river, chatting with new friends and being showered with care and affection.
This is MuayLek, a female elephant who is only seven years old. MuayLek worked to entertain in an elephant show. She was a regular star of the camp. Her main work was to perform for tourists. She was trained to paint, to perform with a Hula Hoop, and to stand on 2 legs while dancing. MuayLek remained tethered and dealt with so much stress. All baby elephants deserve the right to play freely, but she never had that chance. Instead, MuayLek developed typical stress behaviour.
Our founder Saengduean Lek Chailert consistently find time to visit the park in her busy schedule and always enjoys walking across the open grassland to meet with the herd. Lek is highly thought of by all the elephants at Elephant Nature Park and they express their affection at every opportunity.
Two of our beautiful girl’s Birthdays this month – DokMai on April 6th (she is now ten years old), and FaaMai on April 17th (she is 14 years old). Neither of them have been through traditional training or forced in any way. They were gentle from the beginning and remain so to this day, gentle toward all life around them.

Newly rescued FahMui is slowly realising the freedom and making friends in the sanctuary of Elephant Nature Park. From our founder, Lek Chailert: FahMui is friendly enough and still looking to find new friends.
