Welcome Rescued Elephant Vana into a life of sanctuary
Welcome home to our newest member, VaNa, a 29-year-old female elephant. VaNa was not used in either riding or logging. The previous mahout and owner provided vague and unclear information about her past life history.
However, the physical and mental wounds she bears today reveal the truth.
During forced mating, she suffered a broken leg. Between her pregnancy and giving birth, her body was injured, and her mental state weakened, making the birthing process challenging.
She struggled to deliver the baby, necessitating life-saving surgery to remove the deceased offspring. VaNa spent a considerable time in the hospital. Sadly, the surgical wound in her genitals remained open, causing a serious risk to her normal life. Her injuries prevent any further use, and despite her youth, she can no longer bear offspring.
The previous owner no longer wanted her and approached Save Elephant Foundation to rescue her to Elephant Nature Park, where she now resides in her new home, unchained and welcomed to a new life of sanctuary.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all friends and supporters who contributed during Lek’s birthday on a TrunksUp’s campaign. Your assistance has helped transform the life of this beautiful lady. VaNa will no longer suffer; she will receive the best care and a kinder life that she truly deserves.
